چکیده

It has been found that some shapes of lead zirconate titanate (PZT) ceramics respond to rapid temperature fluctuations when mounted in a particular geometrical configuration. This effect is presumably caused by thermal stresses in the crystal which produce a voltage difference across the silvered surfaces. These units were originally constructed to serve as pressure transducers in a lowpressure shock tube, and although a response was obtained when a shock wave (Mach number 1. 25) passed the transducer, the waveform was quite different from the waveform produced by a commercial pressure transducer. Investigation into the differences between the waveforms led to the conclusion that the transducer was sensitive to the temperature rise behind the shock wave. We report some of the results obtained with the transducer in the shock tube, describe a calibration made with a hot-air jet and a mechanical chopper wheel, and show some sample waveforms produced by spoken digits.

Ferroelectric Heater by use of Pb(ZrTi)O3 and BaTiO3 Ceramics

A ferroelectric heater under A.C. field was demonstrated by using lead zirconate titanate and barium titanate ceramics. The temperature of the ceramics was increased from room temperature to its curie temperature of phase transition under an A.C. field. The heating characteristics greatly depend on the compositions of ceramics. It is proposed that the heating behavior is related to the domain s...

Potassium Sodium Niobate-Based Lead-Free Piezoelectric Multilayer Ceramics Co-Fired with Nickel Electrodes

Although lead-free piezoelectric ceramics have been extensively studied, many problems must still be overcome before they are suitable for practical use. One of the main problems is fabricating a multilayer structure, and one solution attracting growing interest is the use of lead-free multilayer piezoelectric ceramics. The paper reviews work that has been done by the authors on lead-free alkal...

Structural, Dielectric And Transport Properties Of Gd- Modified Lead Zirconate Titanate [Pb1-xGdx(Zr0.65Ti0.35)1-x/4O3] Ceramics

Polycrystalline samples of Gd-modified Lead Zirconate Titanate [PGZT; Pb1-xGdx(Zr0.65Ti0.35)1-x/4O3] ceramics (where, x = 0.00, 0.06 and 0.09) were prepared using high temperature mixed oxide method at sintering temperature 1450 K. Preliminary structural analysis through X-ray diffraction technique suggests their formation in single phase tetragonal crystal system at room temperature. From the ...

The ferroelastic phase transition and non-180° domain switching in La-modified lead zirconate titanate ferroelectric ceramics.

The ferroelastic phase transition and shape memory effect in La-modified lead zirconate titanate ferroelectric ceramics are demonstrated directly through the temperature-dependent macroscopic recoverable strain measured in a three-point bending configuration. X-ray diffraction measurements reveal that non- 180° domain switching occurs in the mechanically poled sample in two different ways at th...

Measurement of Flexoelectric Effect in Lead Zirconate Titanate Ceramics*

Lead zirconate titanate (PZT) ceramics is usually used as a piezoelectric material. However it has characteristics of not only piezoelectricity but also flexoelectricity. Piezoelectricity is a phenomenon that electric polarization is induced by strain, and flexoelectricity is the one that the polarization is induced by strain gradient. In this study, flexoelectricity in poled soft PZT ceramics ...
